Weddings are always an amazing assignment to work on. This lovely couple had a beautiful venue near main beach in Laguna Beach and I capture the moment with all the tools available to me. With the technology today, the expectation for the quality of work has gone up exponentially as basic natural light is no longer enough to provide moving and creative images.
It Is All In The Details

Some of the important images that are often forgotten are the detail shots in a wedding. Just as b-roll in cinematography, it is an important part in telling a complete story. Keeping an eye out for simple things like socks, table decorations, jewelry, and shoes help complete the package and complete the story being told.
Godox and MagMod Gear
"We shape our tools and our tools shape us."
Lately, I have been using a new set of lighting gear that allows me to increase the quality of light, by providing me with a low weight, fast setup needed in a fast pace environment like a wedding session. Using sometimes multiple Godox AD200 Strobe Lights combined together with MagMod light modifiers makes this a possibility.
The Godox AD200 are strobe lights capable of producing 200w of light in a package that is slightly larger than a speedlight. To note 200w are generally more than adequate to light subjects even in the most difficult lighting situations as long as the lights are used in close proximity to the subjects.
MagMod Lighting Modifiers are light modifiers use magnets to attach lighting modifiers like grids, snoots, spheres, gels and soft boxes. This removes the necessity to use the old methods of Velcro, tape, or bungee cords to attach modifiers, increasing the speed of setup and tear down, allowing the use of lighting modifiers in fast pace environments, to ultimately give better quality of light. Because of the lights are often used in close proximity to the subjects, these modifiers create the effect of much larger lights, but in a small package.
